- Spearhead our legal strategy, ensuring compliance with international laws and regulations while identifying opportunities for innovation and legal risk management.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on all major business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and major corporate agreements.
- Be the lead in-house legal counsel for payabl., advising on various matters of the law, from employment law, corporate and contract law, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
- Navigate the intricacies of international law, especially within the fintech and payments sector, advising on the legal implications of business strategies and operations.
- Enhance our contractual framework with a keen focus on optimizing our merchant acquirer agreements, payment partnerships, and PSP arrangements to solidify our market position and ensure scalable growth.
- Work closely with all departments of payabl., as well as external legal advisors, providing legal support in the everyday operations and strategic decision making of the business and its business units.
- Draft and review contractual arrangements of payabl. with Merchants and other counterparties, review legal opinions provided by clients, advise on matters of employment law, handle IP and GDPR related matters, etc.
- Be appointed as the Secretary of payabl., responsible, inter alia, to call company board meetings and maintain the corporate registers.
- Lead and mentor a dynamic legal team, fostering an environment of professional growth, operational excellence, and high performance.
- An expert with a proven track record in the fintech or payment services industry, showcasing strategic thinking, exceptional judgment, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), with a preference for those holding a Master’s or higher in Law, Business Law, or a related field.
- Must be qualified to practice law in Cyprus, with a deep understanding of Cypriot legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as EU directives applicable to financial services and fintech operations.
- Demonstrated experience in navigating complex legal and regulatory environments and experience dealing with local regulatory bodies such as the Central Bank of Cyprus.
- An adept negotiator and influencer, capable of forging solid relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and regulatory bodies both in Cyprus and internationally and with the ability to anticipate and mitigate legal risks while driving the company forward.
