Our client is a Payment Service Provider in Dubai and they are looking for a Head of Legal who will serve as the strategic advisor to the executive leadership team. This role involves navigating the complex legal landscape of the iGaming, payments, and Fintech industries while ensuring compliance with global regulations, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of legal and ethical integrity.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the iGaming, payments, and/or Fintech industries and demonstrate a deep understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing these sectors. As a trusted partner to the business, the General Counsel will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies that support growth and innovation while ensuring legal and regulatory adherence.Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee the company's global legal strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Board of Directors, and executive leadership team on legal and compliance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across jurisdictions, particularly within the iGaming and Fintech sectors.
  • Monitor evolving regulations and guide the company on adapting to changes, including GDPR, AML/KYC, and licensing requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks to safeguard the organization’s interests.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls to minimize risks.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, licensing agreements, and partnerships.
  • Ensure contracts align with the company’s strategic and operational goals.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters, including board responsibilities and shareholder relations.
  • Manage intellectual property portfolios and ensure protection of company assets.
  • Foster a culture of legal excellence, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a recognized law degree (e.g., Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent qualification in legal studies).
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with significant exposure to the iGaming or online payments industry.
  • Expertise in international regulatory frameworks, including licensing, compliance, data privacy, and AML/KYC.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance risks, and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience working in cross-border and multicultural environments is highly desirable
  • Fluency in English
